Job-hunting - where to start?

I am in South Oxfordshire and am really keen to change jobs, but am a bit unsure about where to start looking for vacancies. I work in the public sector area, education, charity, professional association, local govt, that kind of thing.

In 'the old days'I would have bought the 'Oxford Times' and other local papers, but no-one appears to be paying to advertise there any more.

I did start looking at websites, but there are just hundreds - does anyone know which are the best ones?

Anyone who has changed jobs recently, I would really appreciate your tips!

wow - thanks for quick reply.
It seems as if you now have to decide who you would like to work for and pursue vacancies there, rather than have a general scout about to see who is advertising?

what about agencies? are they worth the bother for public jobs?

Volunteer work is always great work experience and looks great on the old CV - at Send a Cow we are always grateful of people willing to volunteer. There's loads more info here if that's a help. Best of luck with everything xxx
