On the documents I've been given from my work it says I'm entitled to x amount of weeks at 100% pay, x amount at 90% then another amount up to 6 months before I'd just be on smp. This document is over a year old. Have things changed in the last budget or would that only apply to women having babies next year or something? I'm a teacher btw.

So far as I know SMP runs out after 6 months still. E,g, 90% for 1st 6 weeks then £102 pw for the remainder of the 6 months from start of maternity.
I think all the talk was around election promises - no action yet.

Think you might be able to take further 6 months but unpaid.
If it's changed then it's since I went on maternity in December.

There must be websites you can look this stuff up on - will have a check.

I think the new rules are supposed to come in from April 2006 or 2007 - not sure which and that paid maternity leave will be increased to 9months and then will be phased to increase to 1 year - but not sure when this would happen.

Probably will be talked about more fully in the next pre-budget and budget speeches - but this won't be for ages. Would be nice to know though wouldn't it!

Bugger! April 2006 is when I would be having to go back to work after 6m paid mat leave. I spose it will only apply for women who get pg after April 06, not those still on mat leave then?

moomin- if those are the dates then should imagine it'll apply to women whose babies are born after then
