leaving work to be SAHM - what about state pension contributions?

This might be the wrong place to post this, but can anyone advise on what happens to your state pension contributions if you leave work voluntarily to become SAHM? Am not being made redundant.

if you are claiming Child Benefit you automatically get home responsibilities protection

you get credited with the time for several years of CB but not the actual contributions unless you pay them yourself

Brilliant, thanks. Any idea if this still applies if you are planning to move abroad? OH on 3 year temporary secondment, working in Europe on "expat contract"?

Think it depends if you qualify for UK CB, tbh I ought to look into it as we did the same and the rules changed whilst there so there was period for which I couldn't claim CB but was a UK taxpayer and dh paid NI.
