Flowerybeanbag-i was told to ask your help!!!

I will try to explain my situation as simply as i can but i dont understand it so im confused at the thought of it!!!!!
I am a nanny with 2 two day a week jobs, i am also 15weeks pregnant.

I am due to be made redundant in one of my positions around christmas... My question is....
At what point (in weeks) is my Maternity pay worked out (ie the 90% bit)

Does that make sense??? Hope so....

Also if for example its worked out at 25wk and they want me till 20wk is there anything i can do to make up the short fall, if my mat pay is worked out on 2days works it will be peanuts (similar to smp) but just was hoping for abit more for 1st 6wk

With having 2 jobs how is SMP paid (just split in two?)

Argh........... HELP!!!!

Thanks in advance

It's usually worked out at the 25 week/15 weeks before your EDD.

If you work for two employers, you're allowed to exercise you rights regarding maternity pay and leave with both of them, on a pro-rata basis for each job. However, you must ensure that you have worked for each employer for 26 weeks by the qualifying week (15th week before the baby's due), and that you give the correct notification of when your maternity leave with each one will start.

In total you should receive the same amount of maternity pay as someone who works in a full time job. If you have worked for one employer for 26 weeks by the qualifying week, but not the other, you will only be entitled to receive maternity pay for the first one.

Maternity pay is worked out on an average of your earnings over the 8 week period from 17 to 25 weeks of your pregnancy.

However, you need to be still employed at 25 weeks to be entitled to SMP and it sounds as though for one of your jobs you won't be, is that right? You can get SMP from two different employers as VVVQV says, but it sounds as though you will only be employed by one employer at week 25 of your pregnancy.

So you will only get SMP for one job, the one where you will still be employed at week 25. It will be worked out on the basis of average earnings from that job, the other job that you are going to be made redundant from will not be relevant.

Sounds as though you will miss out from that employer, yes.

Are you absolutely certain of your dates? Have you had your MATB1 yet? Worth making double sure as it makes quite a difference financially if you can get SMP from both.

But yes, if those are your dates and that is your last day of employment, you won't qualify for SMP from that job, only from the other one.
