Maternity Allowances - can you get SMP and OMP?

I work for the NHS two days a week. I am also self-employed a couple of days a week (I do a tuesday plus one hour on a saturday).

I am expecting a baby in June next year, at which point I will have been with the NHS for 12 months. This is not long enough to qualify for the full NHS maternity benefit so I will get 6 weeks at 90% pay followed by SMP.

My question is this - as I will be in receipt of SMP, can I also claim OMP? I believe you can claim this if you are self employed and earn a certian amount (or work a certain number of days) in the period prior to birth.

Thanks

Do you mean maternity allowance? This is only paid if you cannot get SMP afaik.

Yes if you mean MA you don't qualify for it if you qualify for SMP, even though it would be in respect of a different job. You can't get both.

You could get 2 lots of SMP if you were employed by two companies, but can't combine.
