H&S issue. Right equipment

Hi so i work in a furniture store(charity shop) and i move alot of furniture around daily. Sofas wardores washers etc. What safety equipment would u expect to be provided. To assist/help in doing that job safely..

What does the risk assessment say you need? If there isn't one, that would be a first step in identifying the hazards and then ways to mitigate the risks with PPE / training and other equipment. Without the specific detail an RA would provide, my initial thoughts would be gloves (the ones that provide extra grip) and maybe safety boots as PPE. Also possibly some kind of sack barrow / trolley and training on how to lift and move safely individually or with help and on to use the equipment.

What BossBhean says. Along with gloves, boots, and training on safe lifting, we are not meant to lift more than a certain weight alone. Which might be 25kg, but I have forgotten, because I haven't been working in those areas for a couple of years or more.

My post has been deleted , I work part time and it's being replaced with full time. I cannot do this due to family commitments.
Should I take voluntary redundancy or wait for compulsory redundancy? It's all new to me. If I take voluntary when does my job end?
