Please help me write my resignation email

Background: Had a role where I needed to be at work at 07:00. It was only workable as DH was not at work (long story) and was a great job. Took a side step within the same company where the role was fairly flexible. Have been doing role for past year, but so many issues:

  1. All the rest of the team have been working together for past 20 years, and didn't like me as an, 'outsider..'
  2. My entire Development Review was spent on complaints from others in the team, but when asked for specifics, was manager was quite vague. Turns out he is good friends with those who made the, 'complaints,' which apparently were:

Thanking them for their work. Context: It was my first day and the role is incredibly technical. I called the engineers and thanked them for their help. This has been logged as a complaint against me Hmm

Directing an employee to a location which he then complained he had to do again. However, he had to go again because it wasn't repaired in the first instance.

I have been offered a role with more pay, less hours and is a team I have worked with before - different company, but really professional.

How do I write a resignation letter without being petty?

Just keep it really brief and professional

“Please accept this as my x month notice to terminate my employment”

Just write, dear xxxxx

Please accept this letter of resignation. My leaving date will be xxxxxx.

Regards

Xxxx

The less you say, the better, they'll still feel it's sharp because there's no friendly fluff in there.

Dear, ABC, I hereby give you notice of my resignation from my position as XXX, in line with my contract my notice period is YYY and my last day will therefore be ZZZ . Yours sincerely,

I wouldn't give any reasons or get into any point-scoring because ultimately you will feel better leaving with a clean record and your head held high.

I agree as tempting as it is say nothing except the facts.

Just resign because you have a new job.

Smile and wave, smile and wave "goodbye losers"

You are leaving because you got a new job. You aren’t claiming constructive dismissal and going to the tribunal so why burn any bridges? If your boss asks you for any reason or begs you to stay that’s the time to be a bit more candid

Ooh well done! Exactly what others have said - just tell them your last date and no spleen venting. Be classy and they'll soon be a distant memory stuck in their toxic workplace.

Just keep it short and sweet!
Less is more and all that!
Congrats on new job

What do I do about annual leave entitlement?

Get in touch with HR and ask what your entitled to until your leave date, take whatever days prior to the end date so you leave abit earlier.

Couldn’t resist.

So well done OP

Your happiness will be evident. They know they’re toxic and a few will wish they were leaving too.

Onwards and upwards!

I'd do as all PPs have said but also I'd maybe say 'I would welcome the opportunity to have an exit interview with HR; please let me know when this can be scheduled'

Maybe? Then you are REALLY putting the shitters up them without saying anything.

Up to you. You could take outstanding leave during your notice period, and spend fewer days there, or work throughout your notice period and ask them to pay any outstanding holiday pay. What would you prefer?

Ask HR how much accrued and untalented leave you will have accrued by the termination date. You might request to take it as annual leave during notice (though they can decline, will have to pay you equivalent though) or don’t take it and take the money instead. Obviously if you have taken more annual leave than you have accrued you will have the equivalent deducted.

Untaken not untalented!!
