Haven’t acknowledged resignation

On Friday am I put my notice in to a company I have worked 6 months for along with a grievance at the same time. The thing is they haven’t acknowledged either, not my resignation or my grievance! I am leaving on Friday and haven’t even had an email to say “we have received your resignation” I am utterly baffled! I don’t know what to do next? Shall I just leave Friday even though they haven’t acknowledged it?
FWIW I am a Hr professional and I would have sent a letter out by now stating the usual “we acknowledge your Resignation”
I start a new job Monday and am just baffled as to what to do! I was going to resend the email but I don’t know if to just leave it and walk away? I am totally perplexed at the silence!

Have you asked your line manager whether he/she received it? I assume it was an email?

@flowery I have messaged to ask if they have received and that has been ignored aswell!

Is there actually someone in the office that can deal with it? I'm having a (very boring, complicated) problem with a business that have somehow fuloughed me without me being employed by them!
I had no reply to my first emails/phone messages as they've seemingly furloughed everyone.

Just leave. Resigning is a unilateral action, so as long as you keep hold of the sent emails to prove you kept up your end of the contract then there isn’t anything they can do. They don’t have to “let” you leave, they can’t force you to stay by ignoring you, you have decided to leave so and done what is required.

Phone your manager. Messages are easily ignored. I would phone just to make sure - it doesn't stop you leaving but it might head any issues off at the pass.

My manager isn’t answering my calls, I suspect because she has read my grievance! I think I am going to leave it till Friday and then email again copying my notice and grievance again! I no my manager is working as like I said I work in hr so have access to calendars etc, I can also see she is emailing other people! I emailed both her and another person and have received nothing! It so so strange!

That’s so weird. Even just a quick email would be expected. Tbh I’d just send another email again reiterating your leave date and cc a load of people in (perhaps without the attached email).

Why don't you just phone your manager and ask ? Strange that you work in HR but you dont know how to resolve this

@melissasummerfield I have already said I have rang my manager and text and have received no reply! Yes I work in hr and like any normal person I would have acknowledged a resignation, however I can’t acknowledge my own resignation can I! I don’t know how to resolve this as I have never been ignored to this point and worked In such a toxic environment where people would actually do this! I wondered if anyone had any advice they could offer to me, why is that strange?????

Make sure you cc all your emails to your personal email. That way if any issues arise, you will have all the documentation at home proving you resigned properly. Also make notes of any phone calls you have made.

I had this once. I just left on my last day. I didn’t say anything, nobody said anything to me. Nobody rang me the next week to see where I was!

Are you part of a union?

How immature of them.

Is payroll a different person? I'd check you're going to get paid on Friday.

What is the notice period in your contract

gingajewel · 30/06/2020 20:03

@HollowTalk I was paid last Friday so all is ok there!
@RedCatBlueCat I have never received a contract! I presume it’s a month but even though I questioned my contract I have never received one!
I no this says a lot more about them than me and is one of the reasons I am leaving but it’s honestly so strange! I have never known anything like it!

I’m not part of a union, as hr we were ‘discouraged’ from joining one due to conflict of interest (they didn’t put and our ban us, was just frowned upon!
