Hi starlight

Have a look at this which is an interactive guide to maternity leave and pay - you put in your personal information, and it tells you your rights and entitlement.

this is some guidance on maternity pay.

To answer your question, your rights to 90% for 6 weeks aren't affected as such, however when working out what the 90% actually is, your employer looks at what your average earnings were during the 'qualifying period', which is usually the 8 weeks leading up to the 15th week of your pregnancy.

So as long as you are back at work during that period, you will be fine, but if you are still on maternity leave, it will be affected as obviously your average earnings during that time are affected and may be nil.

That's the statutory stuff anyway, you may have a slightly better company maternity scheme, whereby it's worked out differently or your entitlement is more. But if it's just the basic, it's that 8 weeks period you need to be concerned about.

HTH, and congrats!
