DH has had contracted hours cut

Flowery- he has the email confirming they offered 20 contracted hours but no actual contract has been provided yet, despite requests.

You’re entitled to guarantee pay during lay off or short-time working. The maximum you can get is £29 a day for 5 days in any 3-month period - so a maximum of £145.

If you usually earn less than £29 a day you’ll get your normal daily rate.

This is provided he is employed by them.

He may also want to consider using a few days of holiday pay, if it means getting you out of financial hardship on a short term basis.

Employers can put someone on short time working if their contract allows for this or if it has been accepted practice in the industry/company over a long period of time.

He may be entitled to £25 statutory guarantee payment for up to 5 days.

On what basis does he think he is contracted to 20 hours then, if he’s not had a contract yet? Purely verbal?

No no overtime at all unfortunately, thanks for your reply I'll get him to give them a call on Monday.

I think it has to average out to 20 hours per week, so if he's had lots of overtime in the past, putting him on 12 hours will probably still average out to over 12 hours per week.

That's always the impression I've been given when I've had contracted hours. Contact CAB or ACAS, they'll know for sure.

DH works in retail, he's only been offered 12 hours this week but is contracted for 20.
Does anyone know if his employer still has to pay him for the 20? He's asked for more hours but they say they've nothing to give him as two deliveries have been cancelled.
