Fit note

I recently returned to work following a month off subject to a fit note specifying reduced hours. This is disability related.

Little of my work was covered whilst off, this has simply built up and I have missed various deadlines.

I have been struggling to catch up with that and also complete new work in the reduced hours. So have in effect been almost working full hours.

Added to this, I have been given additional tasks, not usually undertaken. This would not usually be a problem, except I do not have the time to complete them.

I emailed my manager and said I am not feeling 100%, that due to workload I am struggling to manage and am working over the hours specified on my fit note. I asked to drop the additional tasks.

I have received an email saying basically I need to do them.

Any advice?

You need to get specialist advice. Maybe with ACAS? A fit note is a recommendation and employers don't have to follow them but they will be on thin ground unless they have a very good reason.

Have you got an HR department?

At the very least, you are going to end up being signed off again. Sorry you're having this issue, is your boss usually difficult?
