Don't know, but wanted to sympathise!

On 4, deep breath and (if you drink) large glass of wine.

(1) An hour longer than you think so leave earlier
(2) Something without stains on it which is ironed
(3) Financial statements, business plans and photos of the nursery or proposed nursery
(4) Pretend you are in a play or similar. Just acting the part. See yourself looking confident and having a brilliant meeting. etc.

Good luck!

Crumbs, OK

  1. I've no idea where that is, sorry!

  2. Something smart but comfortable

  3. Every single piece of paperwork relating to getting this business off the ground. Have a main file with all of the most important information in it and then everything else in the boot of your car, organised in such a way that you know where every document is.

  4. Have a bath, take some Rescue Remedy if you have or a herbal tea if you don't. Go to bed straight afterwards, listening to some v calm classical or instrumental music on really really low. Prepare as much as you can tonight without having a really late night. Put a notepad and pen by your bed in case anything strikes you in the night - you can then write it straight down and go back to sleep, rather than going over and over it in your mind.

Wishing you loads of luck - hope some of the above helps.

Aww, good luck KM, you'll be fine - it's easy to talk about something you're passionate about.

ps - did you figure out the blackpool logistics yet?

Zog · 28/06/2007 21:46

for 1) I'd go to multimap (this assumes you haven't got a Satnav) and print out two routes, one using motorways/main A roads and one not. See how long they suggest it'll take you and then as whomovedmychocolate said, add on at least an hour. By having the two routes, if there's an accident on the motorway/A road, you can switch straight to your backup route.

OK RAC reckon (is that how you spell that??) 4 hours

So should I leave 5 hours before my meeting??

Who cares about Blackpool tonite (well I think time off school and a leisurly drive ) - I have to leave at 5.30 tomorrow morning with make up packed car & a reasonable outfit (suit or summer dress?)

You need cod. If it were me, I'd wear a suit rather than a Summer dress just because it conveys a message of seriousness IYKWIM but I really am no style expert!

It takes me between 1.5 and 2 hours to get to Leicester from where I am in Suffolk (Near Bury St Eds), hopefully that gives you more of an idea

I used to go to Stafford on a regular basis and it never took longer than that to get as far as Leicester. But then from here it's A14, M1 so very straight forward, I'm guessing that the roads from where you are will be smaller ones? It also depends on the M1/M6 interchange with A14, can get very clogged up at peak times

Zog · 28/06/2007 22:16

Sorry katymac, didn't know that. I always naively assume that anyone who's been here longer than me must automatically like each other

no advice, you seem to have had that already, just good luck wishes

It takes me between an 1 and 1.5 hours to get to Yarmouth so I'd say it would take you abit less than 4 hours, maybe allow 4.5 just in case and check the travel report before you go?

are you going A14?
If you are and there problems reported at Catthorpe Interchange (M1/M6) then come off at J1 or J2 on A14, takes a little longer as the roads are single carriageway and quite countryfied but jams at that interchange are slow to clear

  1. Where are you travelling from? Leicester Forest is half way between London and Leeds. If I was driving from London I would assume it would take me at least 2 hours to get to Leicester Forest services (I drive from London to Leeds regularly to visit my dad)

  2. You need to feel comfortable but should also look serious and smart. Would suggest a suit - or trousers and a jacket, with appropriate jewellery/accessories

  3. Take everything you will need to make your business case. Figures, financial projections, etc - keep it short and business like (but good idea to have back up stuff in the car!)

  4. Adrenaline can be a useful thing - keeps you focused - but you do need to relax tonight. Hot bath will help. Make sure that you've built in plenty of time to get there so that you're not panicking. On the journey keep thinking about the meeting and try to anticipate what questions you might be asked. It's always a good idea to try and think of what really nasty, horrible questions/objections might be made - to make sure that you have an answer to these.

    And bloody good luck!

OK up at 5 shower and away by 5.30 that way if I get there earl I can relax

I'm coming from Great Yarmouth so it's a fair way to travel

I have a purple trouser suit with a crisp white shirt (I may take 2 - in case 1 gets creased/stained)

Or a brown linen suit (again white shirt)

I think I have about half my paperwork ready - I'm printing off loads

Is the linen suit pure linen or linen mix? If pure linen then maybe a bad idea as that creases very easily

Report
Katymac · 28/06/2007 23:16

Linen mix

In amongst all this I have prepared an entry for a business award & done the dishes

Gosh it's an exotic exciting life I lead
