Nervous about work on Friday!

I work in a call centre and I was trained on a new system on Wednesday. It was really quite complicated and I thought the training was inadequate however I thought I picked it up quite well. The trainer was quite arrogant and making people feel quite small.

We will be using this system on Friday and I have colleagues who have been trained on it for a long time struggle. The problem is there is a customer on the other end of the line so we can't be long on the call or get help. The lines will be jam packed on Friday so it will be call after call on this new system.

One of my friends had struggled on this system and one day the trainer was stood behind him listening to how his call was going and my friend put the customer on hold to seek help as he was really finding it difficult and the trainer had a huge go at him and told him he should know what he was doing by now.

Now i'm really nervous about how Friday will be. I know I will struggle with this system. If I find it impossibly difficult will it be reasonable of me to demand I be taken off those particular calls until I was trained properly? I am really worrying about it now.

Try and be positive first of all - the more negative you are, the more likely you are to fail as you will be expecting to.

You should raise this as an issue now with your manager, explain how you felt the training was inadequate and what areas you want clarification on. Put it in writing if you have to. Suggest you have further training prior to going live. Its not fair on the company if you feel like this and wait until after Friday if you are not expecting to be able to do it.

I would also list the points about the trainer and emphasise that his/her behaviour didnt' really help the session. This should be acted upon by the trainers manager. Can others back you up on this too?
