Pushed out...

I feel as if I’m being pushed out of my job. I’ve been doing it for two years now and it wasn’t a job I chose, more got sidelined into as it meant this job v no job.
I’ve put my all into it and due to my colleague shortly taking five months off (due to an op) they have got someone in to cover her. I was even told I’d be doing some of the smaller job...like thanks.
Anyone else had to go,through this shit? Advice most welcome as if feeling like an old has been!

I’m due in today and am seriously stressing over it. I feel as if I’m training her to take over my job, especially with the comment that she will be doing the work. I don’t think the manager has any clue to what it involves...

A bit more info needed I think. What is your job? It sounds as though they do need someone to take over the job while your colleague is away, otherwise you would end up doing both jobs, instead of just one. Then you would definitely be stressed. Plus maybe your colleague won't comeback at all. It must be serious if she's off for such a long time - maybe she won't come back at all?

It’s an admin role and my colleague does 28 hours over five days whilst I do 20 over three days. They are bringing in a lady who works the exact days as myself (wed to fri) in and wanted me to do the beginning of the week (mon to wed) I can’t but said I would do Tuesday, Wed and Thursday instead. They said ok but the bit about her doing it all worried me. How can she? She works the same amount of hours as myself. I feel now they think me not good enough to oversee the full job. The Manager said she would be doing the bigger parts of the job whilst I would be doing the smaller parts. Like why?

I'm puzzled. There are normally two of you. Your colleague is taking 5 months off and they're getting someone in to cover. How does this equate to you being 'pushed out'?

I can see your point OP. Did your Manager clarify what that actually means?

If it's that the temp cover gets to do the interesting chunky parts of the role and you get all the dregs, then I don't blame you for being .

Can you work with them to draw up a list of who does what, so you can grab some good stuff?

@Daisychain01; the lady brought in to cover for the five months is well in with the Manager. Unfortunately I’m not and tbh don’t trust either of them. The Manager is known to be a bitch and I’m very apprehensive about the whole thing. The colleague who has gone off is happy I’ve got the help and whilst I am, feel as if my role is about to change.

You've not told us anything to suggest that you're being pushed out or treated like shit. In many companies when someone goes on long term sick there is no cover, be grateful you're getting the help.

You've also given us no detail as to how the manager is a bitch.

Is something else bothering you, making you overly sensitive?

Are we reading the same posts, Bombardier ? I can't see what Gaynor has to be grateful for, if the lion's share of the job-share responsibilities will be going to the person doing the mat cover.

Sounds poorly managed, with no effort taken to ensure the OP is given priority and oversight of the post, given they have more experience than the temp.
