Work

I want to leave....

But I have no new job. Im a Nurse employed Privately. Personality clashes I can no longer tolerate, no support for further self improvement, v v busy pressured environment, misogynistic dinosaur lead who calls all the shots. I’m in my mid 40s, can go no further upwards. We’d be ok temporarily & I’d have the summer off with our 4 kids. Which would ease a considerable amount of childcare issues. I’m worried about my Pension-does a break in service cause long lasting issues? DH thinks I can contribute without being in Employment. My Employer currently contributes 16%-am I mad to walk away from this? Need some perspective. Has anyone rashly walked away from something good and then regretted it?

16% is a massive employer contribution but doesn't mean you should stay in a job that makes you unhappy.

You can always add whatever you want to your own private pension.

Left my last job due to extreme disorganisation and frustration with management... now in a very well organised job and my life is so much less stressful.
Good luck whatever you decide :-)

I am in the same position and I am just going to leave regardless of pension issues. You will get another job, you are a nurse and there is always work for nurses. Sign up with a couple of agencies and do shifts in different places to see what you think of them.

You have to do what's right for you, I am leaving my job because I can no longer put up with the toxic environment, nasty bitchy behaviour and shocking management. You know when it's the right time to go.
