Sickness/Self Cert

If I was sick for 5 days to see out a notice period of one week do I self cert (no idea how to do this?) or go to my GP and get a week sick note? I know he'd give me one as I am really not well from my job hence having to leave. Any advise? I've never been sick from work more than the odd one day once in a big blue moon. Thanks

You can self certify up to 7 days (including non working days) which is usually just filling out one of your company forms which you can probably retrieve from your HR department. If you are unwell for more than 7 days (including non working days) then they would USUALLY ask you for a doctors note, though this isn't always the case. Smile

Assuming I wouldn't get paid which doesn't matter I just need to leave I'm so unwell. I haven't been given or signed a contract been there 5 weeks

Thanks Kate will have to get them to send me a form or just battle through. The job is so physical I'm exhausted from my type 1 diabetes being all over the place which is making my tummy flare up and I can hardly eat so even less energy. I keep feeling so faint my head and heart are pounding and it's just awful!

@justawhisper no worries. Is it harming you mentally? If that's the case you may be able to get signed off ( think you still receive some pay)? X

Mostly physically as my blood sugars are running high and it's hard work so just making me exhausted. I guess that does then effect my mentally I've been moody, crying, anxious and spend all weekend dreading going back. I know my doctor would sign me off as I've known him 13 years he knows I'm usually a grafter and this is not like me at all
