NHS - Not working notice.

I have two jobs. One is NHS well not strictly NHS but my workplace broadly follows the NHS model.
My Nursing job has become unbearable . I have handed in my notice but have to work the standard four weeks. My anxiety relating to working conditions is so bad that if this was my only job I would just go off sick for my notice period. However my other job is a joy to go to and I do not want to be signed off sick for a month for that one ! I guess my question is, has anyone ( NHS or similar) managed to negotiate leaving a job without working their notice. I only work 15 hours a week if that makes a difference, I doubt it does.

Have you any annual leave to use?

No unfortunately no Annual leave as we are near the end of the financial year and our AL runs April - the end of March.

Can you just ask to leave without pay or notice. Take it as unpaid leave or something similar.

You can negotiate an early release. That does happen for a variety of reasons.

Also, it's not unheard of to be fit for one job but not for another (example, I knew someone who was a hairdresser and worked in a bookies on her day off, she badly burned her hand so couldn't work as a hairdresser but could sit behind a window and handle bets). Although when it's stress that's not a clear cut but as it's stress with work rather than home that does make it easier to explain.

Are both jobs with same employer?

If you are honest and say how much your are struggling with this job and how your Dr wants to sign you off sick then any sensible employer would rather save the money not paying you for notice period than have you off sick and having to pay you.

Thanks everyone for your input. I will ring my employer and ask if there is any chance of a months unpaid leave. the jobs are not with the same employer, they are very different roles.
