Apart from maternity leave , I saw this thread on another forum and thought I would ask here , in what ways have your personal life affected your work life or visa versa

I had a tough year in work and spent many evenings crying to my DH. Almost ended up sick on stress leave. Affected me badly and still does if I think about it too much.

Exh cheated and moved 120 miles away. This has had a massive impact on my work life because it's very difficult for me to travel without massive amounts of notice (no local family) or even drinks down the pub on a Friday because I have 2x pick ups to do. Can't do meetings after 5 - the list goes on....
Essentially for the foreseeable future career progression is impossible because I'm not mobile.
It sucks....

Yes when my dad died when I was 22. And again when my sister died ten years later. Work was very low priority for me for a while.

Yes, me.

I worked in a completely (apart from me) male environment, when i was diagnosed with breast cancer. I really thought it would be a nightmare with work, but i was met with nothing but pure, practical and emotional support. They were bloody brilliant!

On the other hand, my european counterparts, who i worked very, very closely with were predominately female and struggled with how to work with me.

I fpund my personal life, and issues really changed my opinions on my workplace - mainly for the better😊

I had 6 mc in 3 years and it has definitely affected my work. I wanted to look for another job but was nearly always either in early pregnancy or dealing with loss. I felt very trapped. I'm now 32 weeks and hopeful that once maternity leave is over I can find something new and sustainable.

My personal life has affected my work a few times over the years. My work has never affected my personal life.

Loads. Work is not my priority. Never will be.
