Waitress etc

Do employers usually look for young people for these sorts of roles so they can pay less? Average wage for waitresses according to the Internet is 6.30, which is below min wage for over 25s.

I don't think employers look for young people - it's just it tends to be young people who apply.
I'm a restaurant manager and tend to prefer more experience and maturity (and we pay all staff equally regardless of age, i.e. Those who are 16 still are paid the same as the 25 year old nmw.

Yes absolutely. Especially those who work for a big company that provide them with a very strict wage budget.
