NHS interview confusion

Hi just want to see if anyone can offer any advice:

Early in February I attended an interview for a band 3 post in the NHS I ve never worked for them before so I am new to the process.
The interview went well and later that same day the head of the panel called me to say I had an excellent interview and I would be offered a post and would be sent a formal offer she asked me not to submit my notice to had it in writing.
One month on I received notification that I was on a waiting list where I may or may not be offered a post. I was rather taken aback by this after being told I would be offered a post so I contacted both the recruitment department and the head of the interview panel. The lady in charge of the interview panel emailed me to say there had been a mistake and I was accidentally placed on the waiting list and they are trying to correct it as soon as possible then I will be offered the post l, the recruitment lady is saying nope there hasn't been an error I am just on the waiting list so what should I do I was told I had the job on the phone and an email to say they made an error from the interview head I'm wondering should I just write it off as a no go? Anyone know what I should do now?

I think I would email the lady you first spoke to and say what recruitment have said and ask for some sort of clarification.
TBH, I'm not surprised. I work in NHS and started a new role in July and it took 7 weeks for me to actually get in to post. I had to provide proof of my eligibility to work in the U.K. I had only worked for them for 6 years previously.
Good luck

Sounds like a wrangle over funding.

I went for an interview years ago and didn't hear back for over a week, wrote it off until my then boss said 'I hear you are leaving us'. They had called for references and not told me I had been offered the job. When I called to complain the HR woman spent a good long while very loudly telling me that actually she had called me and recounting some fictitious conversation, point blank refusing to back down. I suspect for the benefit of the rest of her office Hmm

I would assume they went ahead without confirming the funds for the role and are in discussions with HR.

Just wait and see but yes it's crap however my experience is that once in they treat you well.
