background: i worked for 9 months in a garden shed for a very small husband and wife business. I was the only employee. I often was alone for my shift they were out on business and on these occassions i had no access to decent toilet facilities, no mug for a drink etc.

I helped them grow the business and they had no issues with my work. I handed my notice in last week so today is my last day. I got a call yesterday afternoon from the husband saying not to come in today as its really quiet etc butthey will still pay me ( good, as i lost nearly 3 weeks pay over xmas as they were on shut down so all time off unpaid)

He did say good luck inthe new job and come see us anytime, but..

Im hurt that the wife didnt call, has not said thanks for all your hard work etc etc, i suppose him calling i better than the text i was expecting this morning, but still 9 months in pretty rubbish conditions working alone in silence for minimum wage i was at least hoping for a proper goodbye.

Just shows how stupid ive been for thinking i mattered to them in some way

I am NOT a special snowflake :(

Would you be upset too? i know i need to forget about it be an ELsa and "let it go!!!"

Do something nice with today instead. Go out.

That's crap op.
Some people are so socially unaware of others it's untrue.
Gone are the times of loyalty and appreciation.
It seems in a lot of circumstances nowadays it's each to their own I'm afraid.
Chin up and treat yourself to something before starting your new job Smile

That is crap but considering what you've said about them not caring about access to a decent toilet or a hot drink, it isn't a surprise Sad I'd be sad as well.

As Quilted said go and do something nice today to cheer yourself up Flowers

That's rubbish op but maybe he thought he was being nice paying you to have your last day off rather than make you come in for the sake of it ?! I'd try see it that way and do something youl enjoy today with your day off Flowers

I'm surprised that you're surprised. They made you work in a shed with no access to a toilet and nowhere to have a break and make yourself a cup of tea. You're best off out, don't think about it anymore, this peculiar chapter of your life is over, move on. And best of luck.

I think it's fine, you had a phone call, wishing you the best etc plus a day off. I don't see why they both need to speak to you.

Unfortunately when you move on especially from small companies like this they see it as the ultimate betrayal. In their heads, despite you only receiving minimum wage and being treated in a way that would have the RSPCE lifting an eyebrow, you are part of their big dream.

Of course they would never have shared the success of the business with you!

So sod them, shake them off at the same time as you shake off the dust of that shed out of your shoes.

Good luck with your next role.

I'd go and sit in the loo even if you don't need to pee. Just because you can. Good luck in your new job Flowers

I remember you posting before too so I am glad you took the bull by the horns and resigned.

I am glad they have at least said they'll pay you.

Don't look back - enjoy your next job (is there one lined up?)

Enjoy that cuppa, watch a movie and pee away!

I remember you, too, and I'm really glad you've left. I can't think how they could imagine it was even legal to have you work there without a toilet. Forget about them now - the next job will be so much better.

I remember your previous post, I'm so glad you resigned. They are fuckers for treating you the way they did for 9 months, why do you think that they would be any different when you left?

Good luck with your future.

I remember your previous thread too. They're weapons-grade arseholes. Don't give them another second of your thinking time or emotional capacity.

Do I remember rightly from the last thread that you had another job lined up, or an interview or similar?

How awful, is it even legal for an employer to not give you access to a toilet??

I worked in my last job 13 years and no-one senior said goodbye, called or emailed when I left. Don't know why I expected courtesy and appreciation at the end when none was to be seen for some time, but hey ho. Hope you're new job works out as well as mine did 😊

I'd say if they were happy with an employee working alone in a shed with no decent toilet facility or Access to a hot drink shows they are a shit employer. Cake for you.
