how to tell the boss im leaving when im scared of her!

Help, ive got an office type job but i work in a garden shed, i don't have water or a toilet (but can use theirs in their house, but its not always unlocked) i work 90% alone (was told at interview boss would be there most of the time), i'm on minimum wage and no pension. 20 hrs a week.

Ive got the possibility of 22.5 hours more pay with pension in a large corporate company. There will be other people, water and toilet facilities.

Although i like my current job the issues of lone working ( i dont mind occassionally but all of the time is really lonely, plus im unable to have music on as the speakers are disabled on the pc) lack of facilities and the biggest lack of pension have caused me to look for something else.

Ive not been there long and am the only employee, although they could possibly match the pay and them maybe provide a pension?? they cant change the fact i work in a shed! Although i get on with the boss, normal banter etc i am scared to tell her i'm not happy with the arrangements and am worried that it might turn nasty. She said a month or so back i just want to make sure your happy so you don't walk on us! i think shes a little aware that the set up is unorthodox and i don't know many people that would work in those conditions. Whats my best approach??

Apply for the other job , when you get it tell your employer to stick their shit job.

Your current boss has no respect for you. Give your notice and move on. Did you even sign a contract with your current employer? Your working conditions are atrocious. If you're worried about doing it face to face then give notice by letter or email.

Your working conditions are illegal. How dare they lock the house when you might need the loo?

If you have a computer in the shed can't you plug in a kettle at least?! Order a port a loo And bill them for it ..

All workers are meant to have a pension now and no loo facilities is illegal

Wtf, I would not even tell them you are leaving, just never go back.
You are working in a shed with no facilities ffs.

Get the other job, then write a resignation letter and hand it to her silently or post it to her (depending on how brave you're feeling!)

But don't worry too much about it. She's got you working in shite conditions.

Once you have the other job offer in writing you politely hand your boss a letter which briefly states your resignation. Just as you would with any other job.

If she asks why you say "I need to make pension provision"

That's it.

If she's angry you'll only be there for a few more weeks while you work your notice.

thanks everyone, i do have a kettle but they don't always leave me a mug and i always forget to take one!
I tend to nip to the loo at the local supermarket straight from work! so its best not to drink too much anyway lol

Yes i have a contact and will be checking it monday for notice periods. AmeliaJack thank you ill go with reason for leaving is pension provisions! and probably coward out with a letter and hope for the best!

thanks everyone for your replies, i feel better about looking elsewhere now

I think she needs to be told that never mind the pension, there have been times when you've been desperate for the loo or a glass of water and haven't been able to have one. If she can't understand that, then she really is in trouble.

I wouldn't leave without notice, though.

Remember Mossop your employer (wherever you work) isn't doing you a favour by employing you.

You do work that they need done in return for your salary. It isn't any more personal or complicated than that.

It's always Ok to improve your life by changing jobs as long as you follow the proper process regarding giving notice and preparing a handover etc.

Regarding resignation letters keep it nice and brief "Dear x, please accept this letter as my notice of resignation.

I have x days remaining holiday and therefore would expect my last day to be on x date.

Thank you for the opportunity to work with you and I wish you every success in the future"
