So I have no idea what i:m supposed to do or say for the best.
My dh has been off work for a year, he had - as he described he perfect job, but his contracted ended and he didn't get taken back on.
Fast forward a year with no luck getting any jobs he signed up to a recruitment agency.
He got offered a place at a warehouse but it is doing nights.
After one night he has come home crying saying he can't physically or mentally do the job. He can't get to sleep because he is worrying about going back tonight.
I do understand its hard to go to a job you hate, but we have a house and a 3yr old daughter and another one on the way. I feel selfish for feeling angry at the thought of him quitting. It's not like were teenagers we are nearly 30, I feel like shouting at him but I know that will make him worse and I don't really get along with in laws to get them to ring him and talk to him.
I'm actually scared for what will happen next...
Any advice on what to say or how to help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you x

Well its Christmas so a lot of places are looking for workers.

Night shifts with heavy lifting and maybe no talking and lone working are mentally extremely tough..sometimes dangerous especially if management isnt motivating or cheery and/or theres no music or worse looped music.

Night shifts really fuck up sleep too which makes it worse.

There ought to be call centre, shop floor, distribution, daytime replen, etc etc work at loads of places.

Spend a bit of time for him..or motivating him to..apply to loads of agencies... and also see if he can say to his current workplace 'look nights arent working i camt get used to it' and ask them for day work..

I guess ypu do feel angry so its not about your emotions being wrong, but the root is probably fear of no income ..which you can get rid of if he gets another job. you cpuld also ask GP to do a 'fit for day work not night work' note maybe?

Aww thanks for fast reply, I did this post as a long shot... I have literally not slept all night and needed some outside perspective.
Yeah I hope with the likes of Xmas if we go into all shops that have Xmas staff wanted and hand c.v. In and see what other agencies have hopefully he will get something...
I know nights are bad both my mum and dad work nights, (dad in warehouse, mum as a carer) and I've seen 1st hand how bad it can mess your body up, and I think because when we lived with my parents he saw what it did to them too and fears he'll turn into them - bad tempered, often down, getting physically sick.
But thanks for the reply, im going to let him sleep till I drop dd at nursery and see what he thinks xx
