Hi I've applied for a part time job to make up hours. I got the job and gave all copies of documents for dbs etc but I can't supply all the documents for my right to work in the uk.
I am a uk resident & always have been.

I only have a short birth certificate and I have my national insurance card. I've never had a passport or the other documents on the list.

They will only accept a full birth certificate.... Does this mean I won't be able to do the job?? SadSad
Waiting on their reply.

Can you order your full bc online? Costs about £8 and takes a few days.

you can order it here I used the more expensive faster service, and it was there the next day.

By law employers must do a right to work check. I work in HR and have had to send people away on their first day when they have failed to provide the required documentation by the time they are due to start in post. The most frequent reason for not providing it is because they forget. They then obtain the document and we start them in post asap. We would always try to avoid rerecruiting.

Full birth certificate costs £8 and takes 10 working days to come.
Look at it from the flip side if they allow you to work and get inspected and it is found you are not eligible they face a fine of up to 10K per employee who is not eligible to work.

I had no idea I could order a copy of a birth certificate Blush so now ordered, received and sent.
A huge thank you!

Completely understand why they have to check just if you don't own a passport or full birth certificate, etc (as I didn't) your a bit stuck and I was gutted thinking I wouldn't of been able to do the job Smile
