Broad interview presentation - only 15 minutes

I have a third and hopefully final interview next Tuesday for a senior executive role (COO).

I don't usually struggle with presentations but I have been asked to deliver a presentation with a very broad subject and it has completely thrown me. I only have 15 minutes to fill (which is making it harder) and I could really do with some help to ensure that I answer the question but don't appear too high level and wishy washy at the same time.

"15 minute presentation on your understanding of the role, what experience and ability you will bring to perform the role and how it will help the organisation to move forward"

Can anyone help with some pointers as to how to deal with this?

Maybe you could structure it as 5 mins each of three key areas/aspects of the role (e.g.: leading a team/customer service/whatever) so each 5 min segment is:

  • X is an important part of the role because.....
  • This is the experience/ability I have relevant to X
  • Because of that I will be able to.... (ensure standards/grow/innovate/consolidate whatever it is)

What you know about the company and it's competitors, and how the role would fit into that.

Initial challenges & priorities of the role, drawing on your past experiences to demonstrate your competency.

Where you envisage the company to be in the short and long term as a result of what you've done

Good luck!
