Annual Leave by Industry

Does anyone know if there is any data out there for average annual leave entitlement by industry? I don't think I have a very good deal at the moment and I would like some data to present to my employer when I ask for more holiday entitlement. I haven't been able to find any information after googling for ten mins. There is loads of information about salary, but nothing for annual leave.

It's not the kind of information that is captured and reported regularly, AFAIK.

I work across a number of sectors. I'd say private sector SMEs average between 30 - 33 days annually, although some are on the minimum 28. A government dept I work with is 38 days for people with long service.

Thanks - is that including bank holidays?

Yes. Most companies I know roll bank holidays into annual entitlement.

Thanks. I work for a small business and currently get 32 days a year including bank holidays. Perhaps I'm not too badly off after all!

20 - 25 is normal, excluding bank holidays. I've just gone from 24 to 25 after 5 years service in the financial sector.
The one extra day makes a lot of difference because I can now take 5 x 1 week instead of 4 x 1 week and having to use up the 4 extra days.

5 weeks plus bank holidays here in a call centre it's in an attempt to stop people being off sick.

I used to work in a public sector organisation which had a much more generous leave entitlement, which is probably why it doesn't feel so great now.

In a small business anything over and above statutory is pretty good IME

I think you get quite a good deal

I know a lot of companies pay 28 days including bank holidays, which is the statutory minimum

Nhs, full time I would get 33 days + 8 public hols. (After 10 years service)

NHS 10+ years service. My full time entitlement would be 33 days (not including bank holidays as we sometimes work them).

Long, are you FT and in the UK? 25 days including bank holidays isn't legal!

Sorry, excluding bank holidays. Yes, I'm in the UK.

37 days including bank holidays is my FT entitlement. I think 40 is the max depending on length of service. Private sector company with 250 employees.

The statutory minimum and we have to take the period we close from Christmas to NY out of our allowance - small IT project management company.

It is a contributing factor to making me want to leave
