Salary on application

What does that actually mean?

I've seen a position advertised which I would consider applying for but I don't know if the salary would be beneficial.

Do I phones and have a chat or is that something that would be discussed at interview stage?

I know my salary expectations but not theirs. Is this when the power of negotiation kicks in?

It means they'll pay as little as they can get away with, but as much as is required to get someone they really want.

You need to work out the lowest salary you would accept, and start off at something higher, so you've got room for manoeuvre. Also, don't forget it can be the whole package, if they do a good pension, have private health care or whatever.

I would not usually expect to negotiate salary until I've had a job offer, but it may depend on the employer, so you need to be prepared for the question from the outset.

Remember that job applications and interviews are two-way things - you're also assessing them to see if you would want to work for them.

Thanks, I had an inkling that may be the case which got me wondering if they were a good employer!

I will get my application in and see how it goes
