So I applied speculatively for an internal role that ticks all my long term career aspirations. Project Manager role which is very different from what I do now (relationship manager). Despite not thinking I would, I got offered the job. It genuinely was an unexpected offer and I'm paralysed with indecision. I've already sat on the offer for over a day and have to go back in the morning. I really enjoy what I do now, wasn't in the job that long (about a year) before mat leave. Been back 8 months. Great team and job works well around my home life. While on mat leave I had a bit of an epiphany about what I wanted to do but was looking at it being more of a long term thing. I'm 38, DS1 is 18m and if we're having a second, that process will be happening soon. I just can't decide what to do for the best.....help...

Separate your age and plans for another baby from this. They are irrelevant. You would need maternity leave whichever position you were in.

If you want the job then take it. Is it more money?

I can't really see the negatives, to be honest- is it perhaps a bit of a comfort zone thing?

Take it. You're just scared

Feel the fear and do it anyway!

"While on mat leave I had a bit of an epiphany about what I wanted to do"

Well does this new job fit in with that or not?

Definitively a bit of a comfort thing. It's taken me a while to get to that position in my job so it feels like the wrong time to leave it. The thing that's probably thrown me is I'm quite a planner and this was something that was going to happen in a couple of years time potentially after number 2. I just don't know how this new job would work around all that. I do recognise it's a great opportunity though. It's a sideways move in same company so same t&cs

flowery yes I think so. I'd like to move into contracting at some point. Good money and more opportunities for family time between contracts. Project Management definitely more geared to that.
