Got interview on Wednesday morning, what do I tell my current employer? Take the day sick? Try and book holiday? (But what If they say no?).

Really not sure best way around it. Any suggestions greatly received!

Sorry I know it is not morally right but I would just go off sick. You have to weigh up how much your employer cares for you, and your feelings. Probably not a lot.!
Will they freak at the thought of you leaving and try to entice you to stay?

I hope you get the job, if not your present employer will be none the wiser.
The knowledge that you are applying for another job is bound to affect how your present employers view you.
However, if you do get the job then it is only fair to give them as much notice as possible.,

I had this quandary a few years ago when I was applying for a new job. I had had a lot of time off sick for medical treatment for a serious condition, so I felt morally wrong taking time off sick when I was not ill. I ended up just booking short term annual leave. My boss knew I was unhappy, and looking back I think he was well aware what I was up to as I ended up going for about four jobs over a six week period, some with second stage interviews, before I got an offer. However I think we both wanted me to move on!

Up to you, just be aware that if you get more than a couple of interviews it will be hard to take it as sick, so your boss may work out what's going on anyway.

I don't think you should go sick if you're not I'll. You lay yourself open to disciplinary action and rightly so imo.
Ask for annual leave.
