Occ Health Pregnancy Risk Assessment, can I ask them to make a recommendation?

Hi there,

Hope someone can help. I am now 13 weeks pregnant and at work - not connected to my main role, I am a Physical Restraint and MVA instructor.

So far I've continued to run this training for staff, but I sought advice from central HR about my suitability to undertake this. Finally they came back saying they felt I was at 'no more risk than a member of staff on duty' - I am desk based and train the patrol staff.

My own HR are not the most helpful of souls, and cause no end of fuss about the organising of the training days etc, and go straight to the Governor when my colleague or I need to change the dates of training - always with at least 4 weeks notice and only due to conflicts with my actual 'day job'

So to be honest, I'm just a bit sick of doing it now, and would rather not put myself at risk and the added stress is not helpful. I read the official risk assessment that I adhere to for my delegates and it states we must not let pregnant women take part - surely this should apply to me too? I've not shown this to HR yet, but next week I'm being risk assessed by an external Occ Health agency, and I wondered if I showed them the RA and voiced my concerns, could they recommend I no longer continue for me? I know that HR will say that central said I was 'low risk' and will cause a huge fuss for me, but hoped the Occ Health could just say I'm not to do it?

I've often had external Occ Health assessments for my staff and they have been very thorough. I would absolutely voice my concerns as they are the best way of you having it in writing.

Thanks for replying little Like you say, I'd rather it came from them, and I do have the RA to back it up, but I think it would have more weight from them, rather than it looking like I can't be bothered anymore?

Sorry, can anyone clarify if they can stop my monthly allowance I get for delivering training if I'm declared unable to do it through pregnancy?

The official policy says that any adjustments made due to the risk Assesment must be on full pay? But this is a monthly supplement?
