If I hand in my notice do I get paid for A/L accrued during mat leave?

Hi everyone,

I'm approaching the end of my maternity leave and have just found out that my work have rejected my request for flexible working. I don't feel I can be away from my LO 5 days a week so will have to hand in my notice. It's very depressing as I have worked hard to get where I am today and was looking forward to getting stuck in again.

Anyway, does anyone know if my work will pay me for the annual leave I have accrued whilst on my maternity leave? I've not been able to take it so feel I'm entitled somehow. My line manager is not particularly helpful and is very unlikely to let me block book it after my maternity leave ends and prior to my leaving.

Any help much appreciated.

Pretty sure you do - they either have to pay it to you or let you take the leave during your period of notice.

I block booked mine at the end of mat leave which actually covered my notice period for leaving.

If I remember rightly I had to return for x months because I had received a higher amount of mat leave (NHS) and used most of my accursed holiday leave including any bank holidays.

You don't need to block book it. It makes oh difference that you happened to be on maternity leave when you accrued the holiday. Once you've accrued it it's yours and will be paid out to you when you leave, exactly the same as if you resigned without having been on maternity leave.
