Comments on the following please:

"Dear x

I am writing to formally notify you that I am resigning from my position of (job title) with (name of company).

My last day of employment will be (date in 6 months' time) in line with the terms of my employment contract.

I would like to thank you for your support during my time in this role and wish both you and the company success in the future.

Yours sincerely

Jean Seberg"

Sounds fine. Why are you doubting it?

JeanSeberg Tue 11-Feb-14 15:49:30

I'm not doubting it, just checking as I've never resigned before.

CajaDeLaMemoria Tue 11-Feb-14 15:49:37

I wrote something similar. Seems fine to me.

atmywitsend13 Tue 11-Feb-14 15:57:23

Oh I see smile It's absolutely fine

JeanSeberg Tue 11-Feb-14 15:58:33

Thank you both.

ninah Tue 11-Feb-14 16:20:07

Perfect. So good I'm going to plagiarise.

JeanSeberg Tue 11-Feb-14 16:20:37

Be my guest. smile

ninah Tue 11-Feb-14 16:22:14

I have a fantasy alternative, I promise you grin

JeanSeberg Tue 11-Feb-14 16:27:06

Ha ha, I love that kind of fantasy.

Loriens Tue 11-Feb-14 21:11:50

Jean, I have been reading your other threads and as someone else who has handed in their own notice with no job to go to, my own letter was very similar. Wishing you and ninah well

JeanSeberg Tue 11-Feb-14 21:24:49

Oh thanks for that. How did it all work out for you?

ninah Tue 11-Feb-14 21:26:09

yeah, thanks also
Jean you can't wait, now, can you? grin

JeanSeberg Tue 11-Feb-14 21:34:39

God no, will be gutted if my boss cancels his visit or is ill!

EBearhug Wed 12-Feb-14 20:48:16

It looks fine to me, too.

I've written my "honest" resignation letter before, but I don't think I could actually use it! It was very cathartic, though.

JeanSeberg Wed 12-Feb-14 20:52:36

Ha ha, please feel free to give us the highlights!

Loriens Wed 12-Feb-14 21:28:56

How did it all work out for you?

I'll let you know smile Currently working my notice, thankfully only six weeks (four remaining)
I still wake up in the night wondering what on earth I've done but I truly believe this will be the right decision for me.

JeanSeberg Wed 12-Feb-14 21:32:46

Good for you.

Be good to see you on my other thread, there's lots of support and inspiration on there.

please feel free to give us the highlights!

They had a stress survey at work recently. Some of it did feature (in slightly less sweary language) in the "additional comments" section at the end.

JeanSeberg Wed 12-Feb-14 22:55:50

Oh so you're still there then, sorry to hear that, I assumed you were referring to a previous role.

EBearhug Wed 12-Feb-14 23:30:44

No, current position. I feel very split about it. I really want to work for the company, because I believe in what they're trying to do at the moment, but the management in the department is frankly shit. I did go for an interview last year, but didn't get it. But it helps my sanity to write my fantasy resignation from time to time. smile

How frustrating for you. Keep an eye out for other jobs and pray for a change in management!
