Hello everyone

I have been selected for a interview for a band 6 multi speciality female ward. I have experience in gynae and I'm currently a band 6 education. I'm ready to get back into clinical now. They have asked me to prepare a presentation on the role of the band 6 on a multi speciality ward. I have some ideas but have brain block!! All advice is welcome please!

Thankyou

You could divide up into clinical and supporting staff

ensuring lower bands are competent and supported:provide evidence on how you would achieve this 1:1, PDR etc
team management- how you would keep morale up
dealing with any problems with staff-how you have done in past and how you would in new job
do you have key performance indicators to monitor and audit?

just a few ideas

If I were you I would scrutinise the job spec to ensure everything is covered and relate it all to the multi-speciality ward

Mmm, sounds like it's a new role & they're looking for ideas about what to do with the job!!!

Could you link it to the KSF & look at core competences for the role? Emphasise importance of communication & multi-disciplinary team working?

What does the job description say?

Discuss mentoring pre reg students, post reg students Developing protocols and policies.Impact of seasonal conditions. If you want to be keen ask about options surronding commissioning and how that is effecting workload are you as a ward being sidelined through choose and book.
Cost effective practices from stock to staffing.
Does the ward use agency versus bank? Worth discussing impact on budget.
Can't help with clinical though not my area at all
Except keen to get patients home sooner how as a manager can you influence this.
Accountability incident reporting.
Will you be expected to be bleep holder in absence of senior etc.
If you do surgery how you might streamline pre op procedure if this is an issue.
If its gynae ward consider ethics surronding top and miscarriage in same ward area!
Hope some of this helps Good luck.
