How can I get motivated for yet another job interview?

I have been job hunting very hard for a year now. In that time I have done 16 applications and done 7 interviews. I do realise this is a fairly good 'hit' rate but am now feeling totally fatigued by the process. Next week I have an interview (my 8th in 12 months) and for the first time I am really struggling to get myself to prepare for it. It's not that I don't want the job, and I am really pleased to actually get an interview. It's just I feel totally exhausted and like I can't do another interview, I just don't have the emotional energy! Normally I'd be totally fired up and start preparing at every spare moment. Any tips?

I feel your pain - I was out a work for a while a couple of years ago and went for interview after interview - about 8 as well. I found little things helped me - interview clothes all ready, something nice planned after the interview (a film, nail done - what ever), the thought that it wouldn't last for more than an hour. I also didn't prepare very much (as that made me too nervous - odd I know). You hit rate is great and I am sure you will get something soon, Goof luck.

Be honest with yourself - do you want this job?

Can you remember the last time you had a successful interview? How did it feel? Can you remember being told that you'd got the job? Telling your family and friends? Were you excited? Were you proud of yourself?

If all you can think about is failing, this may come across subconsciously at the interview in your body language, the way you speak, the words you use, the tone of voice.

Think of the most confident person you know (Madonna / Lady Gaga if you're stuck) - how would they approach it? Think yourself into their skin and be them for the day. Go on - sock it to 'em!
