I've got an interview to cover maternity leave? Any tips?

I've got an interview to cover maternity leave for 1 year and the person whose job it is will be at the interview but not conducting it.

It's a management role, and I've got to give a presentation on what I would do in my first 3 months.

I need to show how I will add value quickly, but be sensitive to the person whose job it is.

What would you include if you had to make this presentation?

I tend to think of maternity cover as 'holding the fort'. Most companies want someone who will hit the ground running, familiarise themselves with the team and the issues and get on with it. I doubt if they are looking for a rocket scientist.

DameJudyDench you might like to know that I cut and paste your response (without the rocket science bit) and used it as the first slide of my presentation. I got the job!! X
