I finished for holidays last wed and my boss told me it was 85% certain I would be put into a secondment placement until the end of the year. I've just got a text saying its definite. I've been given no choice in this, and I've told them I didn't want to do this. I don't know how this works but I don't know how to get my return to my current job in writing/assurances over date of return etc. How do I go about asking for the right agreement/in writing on my position as it stands?

Thanks

What does your contract say about changing your role like this?

How different is the secondment role to your main role?

What will be happening to your main role while you are on secondment?

I have had nothing in writing. The role is similar but different - my knowledge of the subject I'm moving to deal with is pretty non existent but my level/grade stays the same. My contract I'm sure says they can move you as and when they want etc. so I can't, as far as I know, refuse this move. My role - the dept is losing work so they are reducing the work to accommodate the loss of staff but there are people who are same level/grade as me staying but I've been picked to move as I'm part time - 25 hrs per week.

I think you need to basically ask for a secondment agreement/letter confirming the details of your secondment, including dates and other details, and including information about what happens at the end.

Thanks. Is that standard or will I be asking for something out of the norm?
