Returning to the NHS

I have 13 years service in the NHS, however the last 3 years I have been working in a different sector not conected to the NHS terms & conditions or A4C. If I return to the nhs do I retain the long service benefit interms of annual leave entitlement??? I do remember at one point this was protected but not sure if this is still the case??

Many thanks

I think you will if it's only been three years. I had a gap of over ten years so my continuous service didn't count. However be aware that many NHS organisations have really cut back on some of these 'perks' as it influences your spine point and annual leave allowance.

My last NHS Trust refused to recognise my previous seven years NHS employment in terms of redundancy protection when I took a two year contract. This was contrary to the HR advice I and other colleagues had got from our previous NHS organisations.
