I'm looking for a book which will help me with techniques for line managing successfully.

I have t line managed for many years and those I have I have been lucky that they conscientious, work hard and are reliable... Until now... I have a young person, 20, first proper job, mental health issues, recently diagnosed post traumatic stress, who is constantly late, can be scruffy, and doesn't complete work. On the upside she is lovely, very bright and I'm hoping in time will do really well.

I just need some tips on how to manage her effectively. Sometimes I struggle to be assertive with her but worry that the rest of my team will get pissed off and leave...

Generally I would recommend one minute manager too, but this sounds like a specialist area. D you have HR in your company who you can discuss with? You have to make reasonable adjustments for disability, but Ultimately you are not required to keep someone who cannot do the job. I am sure you are right that your team's compassion for carrying the slack for a co-worker who is frequently late and doesn't finish her work is limited.
