Sometimes I despair...

(I maybe should put this in pedants' corner)

I received an email today from "The Womens Business Clubs". In it was a link to a blog entry about de-cluttering. Article here

I accept that the blog is written by a 'member' rather than an official representative of the site, but the number of mis-spellings in it made me cringe.

Is it just me, or does this make you think badly of the organisation?

No, I totally agree - I hate poor spellings, I think it gives a very poor impression, particularly in a business situation.

Glad I'm not the only one!

Good grief that's appalling isn't it? I am a member of that organisation and have several articles on the site myself. Obviously I proof read my own before submitting them but it's pretty bad that they don't also do it before posting them up!

I was also having an internal debate as to whether there should be an apostrophe involved in "Womens" but was confused by the pluralisation of "Clubs"

I realise the woman who wrote it may have literacy issues, and that doesn't make her a bad person, or her opinions any less valid (although I do find the article a little trite) but as you say, the site themselves should proof read things before posting them. Certainly before publicising them in a mailout.

How hard is it to C&P an article into Word before you click submit?
