I'm Self Employed and work 30 hrs per week, i think they do occasional random spot checks.. I kept a day by day work diary when i first set up, which included research, design, material sourcing etc. but, i've never been asked to prove it so far, so i stopped doing it.

We're both self employed and have never yet been asked to prove it. We just tell the tax credit people that we work over 16hrs a week and they've been happy with that.

Were they to ask we would be able to show them our records - we both bill clients an hourly rate so keep a record of the hours we work which would then match up to invoice and subsequent bank deposits. I'd hope this would be enough for them!
