Dh is wondering about adding it on to paternity leave to help me after section. He isn't very available when at work and doesn't get annual leave.

Work may not let him take the time anyway but he would need to go through proper processes to ensure best chance.

TIA

21 days.

If he takes it immediately on birth, they can't refuse it. However, strictly speaking the same rules don't apply if he takes it after paternity leave.

If it's really important to you and you can afford to lose the £120 per week (assuming that the company don't pay enhanced paternity pay), then if they turn down the parental leave request he could always withdraw that and request four weeks of parental leave straight from the date of birth instead. They'd have no ability to refuse that.

What do you mean he doesn't get holiday? Is he a teacher or something with fixed dates?

He is in a school. Paternity leave will hopefully be before half term so he would take the two weeks then back for a few days then take a week or 2 after half term. Could just about do 21 days notice as it's a section & should be planned.

No enhanced pay but don't want to lose money if possible!
