Hi
I have successfully completed a 6 month trial of reduced hours (down to 4 days), after a return from mat leave. My manager is happy with how it has gone. He would like to now offer this as permanent but would like to add a codacil that the company have the option to discuss this arrangement, with the option of going to full-time, should the company needs require.
I would prefer not to have this option - what is the advantage to me? And I wouldn't like the lack of certainty re my current hours (although I do appreciate having a job, I know).
I am conscious that if I refuse this offer, they could very easily decide not to offer the reduced hours and just opt for full-time now.
Is it legal to insert this codacil, does anyone know? Is it usual to have sonething like that in a p/time contract?
Many thanks for your thoughts on this.
