Mobile phone for elderly father

I'm thinking of getting my 83 year old dad a new mobile phone for Christmas. He carries a phone at all times, as an emergency measure and also because it has alarms set to remind him to take his pills. His current one is an old Nokia, with tiny buttons, that he's beginning to struggle with, but won't change because he's worried about setting a new one up. However, as he'll be with us for a month over Christmas, we can help him with that.

Requirements are:

  • Physical buttons that are easy to press. Definitely not touchscreen.
  • Nice, clear audio.
  • Loud ringtone.
  • Ability to set at least three daily alarms, which also need to be loud.

I keep coming across the Doro 5030 online, and it seems to fit the bill. But I don't know if it will do the multiple daily alarms.

Would be interested in any recommendations or cautionary tales!

My dad has a doro 6030, which one would have assumed is a later model. It's only got a single alarm. In other respects it's a lovely phone, easy to use, so if you could find a doro with multiple alarms, it should be a good bet.

There is a Doro smart phone that looks really easy to use. We’ve thought about buying one for MIL for Christmas.

Doro are supposed to be elderly friendly but my mother and mil hated theirs. I also felt they were overpriced for what they are Mil now has an iPhone (6?) which she loves.

Ah - thanks for confirmation about the alarms. I need to keep looking.

I've spotted this one online, that seems to have up to five alarms: Gelmarc CL8360

If anyone finds or can recommend a phone with big buttons that has internet access that would be great. I can’t convince my Dad to give up his old Nokia in exchange for a touch screen. But he would like to access the internet on his phone.
