My mum (88) has just had a pretty rubbish experience with Specsavers home eye tests service. She received an unsolicited leaflet in the post from Specsavers about their home eye test service. She has very limited mobility and there is no easy parking and ready access available close enough to any optician in her local town, so a home eye test looked like just the job for her.
I rang Specsavers using the number on the leaflet and started off the process to get her an eye test. Specsavers said they would ring her in a couple of days. There was no phone call just a letter a week or so later from SSavers stating that they would visit her at home on Weds 17th Oct but would ring a couple of days before to let her know what time.
Once again there was no phone call and then there was no visit and no other contact from Specsavers yesterday. Mum lives in very sheltered accommodation with controlled access and a manager on site, so she definitely knows that no one tried to call to see her.
Today, I rang the number on the letter giving the date of the visit and there was just a message asking callers to leave a name and number and Ssavers would call back.
I rang the Ssavers branch in the local town. They were sympathetic but explained that the home visit service is a separate business and all they could do is suggest that we keep ringing and try and find out what's happening. (The local branch cannot offer a home visit.)
This seems very very poor shoddy service from Specsavers. Has anyone else had the same experience?
