I am helping to spread the word about Schools Low Carbon Day 24th June 2010. (Website www.lowcarbonday.com)

Organised on an entirely voluntary basis by a group of parents concerned about climate change, the aims of Schools Low Carbon Day are

- to educate children about climate change;

- to focus children (and hopefully families as well) on their own energy consumption / carbon footprint;

- to encourage action by asking children / families to cut their carbon footprint in some way.

310 schools (both primary and secondary) representing some 120,000 pupils have already signed up since launch on 7th September.

The aim is to get 1 million schoolchildren to take part. With a small effort, 1 million schoolchildren could cut their carbon footprint by 30,000 tonnes a year. They could also influence their parents to do much much more than this.

It's easy for schools to take part as lots and lots of lesson plans have already been prepared. The website is www.lowcarbonday.com.

If you want to help spread the word, Invite your school to join in.

It's simple to do, just fill in the name of the school and the email and they will receive information and an invitation to take part. The link is here:

Or click the Invite a school to join in button on the home page of the lowcarbonday.com website.

Thanks for your help!
