Thinking about moving to Brighton and will need secondary school for ds. I've been told Varndean and Dorothy Stringer are good, but which would you choose or did you choose and why?

Are there any other good secondary schools in Brighton (i.e. those with more than 60% pass rate at GCSE).

How close do you have to live for the catchment area - is it half a mile? Is that as 'the crow flies' or using the quickest walking route?

Just a thought - how much does Brighton College charge?

My ds is going to Dorothy Stringer in September we viewed several schools and this and varndean were best imo.We chose this over Varndean as it is slightly nicer building we really liked all the teachers and kids we met and it had a slightly more artistic feel than the others I know several teenagers locally who go there and they are all lovely so that swung it HTH

Ditchling Road - but the bit just after Surrenden Road - opposite the golf course. Is this too far away?
