This is the time in the year that teachers of the little ankle biters work their collective arses off, getting stuff ready for the Christmas Plays.

And you can bet your boots that in every class many parents are royally pissed off that their little Frogmella isn't Mary, and everyone knows that little Abishag only got the part because her mother is something big in the PTA.

Ladies, (and the odd Gent) I tip my hat to you. You work miracles that are not trumpeted by the angels, but miracles thay are.

and I'm so glad I teach in secondary!!!

They are mostly not very exciting, TBH.

Most of the good stuff isn't in them for H and S reasons.

Havng spent the afternoon in DD's FS2 class, I think her teacher would be extremely glad to be at home with a glass of wine about now.

To get 60 or more children in a play guarantees that most are going to be sitting at the side of the stage singing.We still laugh at my DS2's first role-he was a Christmas pudding!!

Our school prides itself on everyone having a speaking part - enter 16 xmas trees and more angels than the cistine chapel.

dd was Mary last year and found it wasn't all that it was cracked up to be. She didn't get any lines, just had to simper around a bit looking mournful.

She much preferred being a Rockin' Robin when she was in Reception.

btw I'm glad I don't teach in primary too - although tis Open Evening season instead!

DS was a townsperson last year and had to say 'busy, busy, busy' but by golly he milked that part and had to be pulled off the stage as loved it so much.

I was just proud that he didn't wee himself or cry to be honest (he was 3).

As he's an august boy i'm fully expecting he'll have a very small part this year and i don't mind at all - oh no - not at all

I was only pleased because I was made to be the innkeeper's wife in my own infant nativity play as you can imagine I didn't have to do much.

The worse part is not being able to go to your own child's nativity/Christmas production. All the rest, I love. It makes me cry!

I remember being a goat one year complete with itchy jumper, jophurs and paper mask. How I hated school plays.

I didn't realise they started so early in the term. Explains why my ds (4) keeps standing still and speaking what must be his lines and then breaking into song. He refuses to tell me what it is.
