prior park prep is an odd, slightly sad place that people seem to travel miles to avoid sending their children to. I don't know what it is about that place. It is a lot cheaper than the other local preps which is why it still has some punters.

prior park senior is a different thing, but again doesn't have a very good academic reputation. It isn't considered to be wierd though, people don't actively avoid it, but you wouldn't send your bright kid there.

you need to look at the isi report and do a lot of reading between the lines

but please don't send to prior park prep. the last school I knew of that had an odd local reputation, and which the locals inexplicably didn't use or recommend, was sherborne prep in the old days. the owner/headmaster was then sent to prison for child sexual abuse and everyone said "I KNEW there was something funny about that place". I'm not suggesting for a minute that is the problem at prior park prep, but there is definately something unhappy about the place.
from shrivenham the obvious choice for preprep is pinewood, for prep I'd go for st hughs over pinewood probably... email me if you want details

My ds is v. keen on Downside for secondary, assuming we can wangle a bursary.

I'm not sure myself, but I suspect ds's priorities are rugby, cricket and, er, more rugby and cricket. [wry mother of Y5 boy emoticon]

Know someone who took their children out of the Paragon as niether they nor their children liked the feel of the place. I understand that it has changed a lot recently though so maybe OK now.

On the senior school, I know people who have decided not to send their children their because they school on a Saturday.
