Hi all my 4 year old ds has got to dress up as a french person for next week. Got a striped top.
Any other ideas welcome
Thought about a string of onions round his neck but someone said it is garlic. Not sure and how am I going to do this?
Not good with using my imagination
Thanks

A boy at our school is half-French and he came dressed in an outfit very similar to Fio's suggestion.

Beret, moustache, a red neckerchief and some onions round his neck.

how do i do the onion round the neck think. Can't use real onions can i?

sclubheaven Thu 18-Sep-08 15:54:53

How weird - are they doing some kind of 'allo 'allo themed day? grin

sidey Thu 18-Sep-08 16:15:06

Its diversity day and there class has the french theme.
I am rubbish at things like this
Got a beret and striped t shirt but could do with plastic onions or garic but don't know where i'm going to get them

Baguette under his arm. Plastic food - try Argos or ELC.

georgiemum Thu 18-Sep-08 16:19:31

Oh - better idea. Go as a mime (a la Marcel Marceau)!

ruddynorah Thu 18-Sep-08 16:23:50

diversity day and they want them to dress as stereo types? hmm

witchandchips Thu 18-Sep-08 16:26:08

what about an actual french person or some thing like a resistance fighter

sclubheaven Thu 18-Sep-08 16:29:51

lol ruddynorah!

Maybe they should have been asked to bring in different nationalities food or something. That's where real diversity lies, not in clothes!

Khaki or navy blue bermuda shorts, with a sharp crease down the middle.

A Lacoste polo shirt in a classic colour (white, navy or pale pink).

A side parting and hair glued down with gel.

Moccasins and ankle socks.

Oh - and he should be very, very clean all over grin

PotPourri Thu 18-Sep-08 16:35:34

very clean??

ruddynorah Thu 18-Sep-08 16:36:57

the 4 year olds i see in french all seem to wear dungarees. that was in the country mind you, not paris wink

orangina Thu 18-Sep-08 16:37:55

Forget the onions/garlic, get him to hold an orangina bottle...
