uuugggh I hate to think how dim i am now, I too went to Grammar....seems a long time ago now....

Boyswillbeboys Wed 17-Sep-08 13:44:23

I think you might fail on spelling too!

Dropdeadfred Wed 17-Sep-08 13:44:49

{dons plopper hat and sits in corner}

me too. my son has just done his 11plus, which i passed years ago, but looking at it i would not be of a high enough standard now.

Flier Wed 17-Sep-08 13:45:04

i don't think i'd pass any exams i did at school, or college for that matter sad

FinallyGotDyson Wed 17-Sep-08 13:45:11

LOL! The kind of maths you learn at school, and the kind of maths you need for everyday life are 2 entirely different things.

Does that assuage your feelings of inadequacy?

Am certain I wouldn't (didn't go to grammar school though)

Give a sample question!

our primary school is going through it at the moment
I don't realise that even if you do really really well in all of it but shit in maths you don't pass sad

I regularly got about 35% on my dd's non-verbal reasoning and about 50% on the maths!

Are you allowed to use a calculator?

psychomum5 Wed 17-Sep-08 13:47:27

<snort> @ 'fail on spellings'

I would not be able to sit any of my GCSE's that I got very good grades in, if I had to resit them now. Especially my maths one.

I have no idea sometimes how to help my elder girls with their homework, my brian is that fried from non-usage.

I would however pass my computor studies and typing exams now......much faster than I used to be, and I can use more than one finger too now<<proud>>

I remember those VERY complicated calculators at secondary school with little symbols on them

Have no idea what they meant then and certainly wouldn't have a clue now

But know FOR SURE I couldn't work out 36 into 1000 without one blush

WideWebWitch Wed 17-Sep-08 13:52:27

I would, I have been marking ds's, actually, come to think of it I can do the VR easily but I can't do the maths and there's loads of maths now. Our pass rate is 122 which is 61 questions right out of 80 = 77%

WideWebWitch Wed 17-Sep-08 13:53:26

So I would fail now becauise of maths
and I passed and went to a grammar too
